# Manhae’s Three Open Pledges and the Algorithm of Action: A Declaration Written with the Body, Not the Head

The 'Three Open Pledges (Gongyak Samjang)' that conclude the historic 1919 Declaration of Korean Independence were actions directly appended by the Buddhist monk and poet, Manhae Han Yong-un. Manhae was unsatisfied with the smooth, elegant draft written solely by literary elites. To him, true learning was not intellectual knowledge held in the head, but Siseup (時習)—the algorithm of embodiment proven through action. His fiery command to "cheerfully express the righteous will of the nation until the very last person and until the very last moment" was a cold, pragmatic manifesto that transcended abstract pacifism. 

As an engineer who spent over 40 years on industrial floors where not a single second of bottleneck was permitted within the function of time f(t), I read Manhae’s pledges as the most precise and flawless 'algorithm of execution' ever designed to protect human dignity. Today, as the colossal machinery of AI threatens human subjectivity, we must once again etch into our souls this declaration of independence, written not with ink, but with the sweat and blood of our ancestors.
